When I first joined Lymm Anglers Woodside was the water I was most looking forward to fishing, probably due to it containing a good head of crucian's.
I arrived at 8am and fished without a bite down the far end until around 11.30 when I moved up towards the car park. (which apparently is a bit shallower). This turned out to be a good decision as I started getting bites straight away.
Fishing sweetcorn over micro pellet in four hours I managed over a dozen Crucian and a Tench.
I really enjoyed my session on Woodside hope to return soon.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Double Take.
I arrived at Belmont Estate undecided on fishing Beech or Belmont lake. The decision was made for me with Beech looking busy so made my way onto Belmont stopping on the way to chat with another angler who would later help me out.
I setup on peg 7 (Oak I think it's called) but after being informed that the person who had left shortly before I arrived had blanked I was expecting a slow start.
One rod over tight to the island and one in open water to my right. I'd only been fishing for an hour when the island rod was away and I hooked into what felt like a decent fish. I had the first fish close to the net when my second rod was away I netted the first fish and picked up my second rod and was into another.
The chap I'd spoken to when I arrived kindly wound his rods in and came around and helped me net the second fish.
Two mirrors the larger of the two weighing 24lb on the dot the second estimated to be a low double.
I lost another at the net during the night and packed up early the next morning hoping to get down to Drinkwater Park to support the Salford Friendly Anglers fund raising match, that I would have attended if not for the football later in the afternoon.

Rochdale Canal
On Sunday I fished a match as part of Salford Friendly Anglers fund raising efforts. Mike has put up the result on the Salford Friendly Anglers blog.
It was tough going and it was looking like a blank for myself until I managed to catch a small roach with ten minutes of the match remaining.
Mike (Manchester Fishing Fiend) managed 20 roach/perch with this being the pick of them.

Feeding The Ducks.
With good weather forcast I was keen for an early start and by 8am I was fishing and looking out over a misty lake.
Since I last fished Founders spring has arrived and I was confident when I arrived. I fished one rod in the margin swim I'd caught from on my last visit and one into the out of bounds area. I then made a big mistake and fed some pellet into my margin swim. All I can say is that the ducks that arrived shortly after enjoyed them. This carried on for most of the day but despite this I did catch from this swim.
My first common of the year. (13lb)

Beech (Belmont Estate)
Today I decided to try another Lymm AC water that I have not previously fished.
Beech Pool is situated within Belmont Estate and contains a good stock of carp up to the mid twenties. It's a long narrow water that's main feature is an island about halfway down. I setup to the left of this island and fished one rod over towards the back of the island and one rod into open water.
I had nothing untill the following morning when I must thank the geese for making so much noise they had me awake earlier then intended. It was during this time when I spotted a fish on the near side of the island so I moved the rod I was fishing in open water to this spot. After just over an hour this rod was away and resulted in this mirror of 11lb.

Milton Brook
Today saw me at another Lymm AC water Milton Brook. This is a horseshoe shaped water with a second smaller water within.
This overhead shot does not show the channel that now connects to two waters allowing fish to move between both.
I setup and fished one rod over to the far bank and one into open water. I had a small mirror after a couple of hours and thought I had a chance at a couple more. This was before the farmer decided it was a good time to flatten the bankside using a tractor and heavy roller.
During the night the weather took a turn for the worse. And after waiting it out for a break in the rain I decided to set off home.

Founders
After not been able to get out fishing for a while due to work and frozen lakes I decided to book a day off and do a 24 hour trip to Founders on the Lymm card.
I have only joined Lymm this year and this was my first trip out to one of their waters. Founders is a small water situated in the middle of a golf course but holds carp to the mid twenties.
When I arrived two others were already setup and fishing so I decided to fish the opposite side. I fished one rod over to the island and the other in the margins to my left.
No bites during the day but I did make a new friend who enjoyed sharing my biscuits.
After a few liners I had my first run around 10pm from the margin rod and this resulted in my first fish of the year a Mirror weighing 18lb 7oz.
Nothing else during the night, so I packed up in the morning just happy to have ended my run of blanks.
This was my first trip to Founders and I have come away with a few ideas I think will help on my next visit.
